October Letter Writing Challenge

As October rolls around, I can’t help but think about how fast another month has flown by. Another season for that matter! So many things I planned on doing, but didn’t. One specific thing that has been on my mind lately is letter writing. I promote writing letters in my shop and how beautiful that form of communication is. However, I rarely find time to sit down and write letters myself! So, I’ve decided to take action and set a specific challenge for myself for the month of October and wanted to invite you to join me. (More details about that in a minute).

Letter writing is an art. It is a form of cultivating relationships. It is a medium of encouraging others. It is an excuse to pause, reflect, slow down and soak up life and pour that life onto paper and into someone else's life. And it is an outlet for creativity.

Just think about that feeling when you receive a letter that someone wrote for you. The thought of someone taking the time to put pen to paper with you on their heart. You don't have to consider yourself an artist or a poet to create a beautiful letter. Simply write what's on your mind, or what you love about someone, and magic happens.

I say all of this, and I truly believe it, yet I find it hard to follow my own passion. Life is busy and cluttered and disorganized at times (or all the time in my case). I come up with plenty of excuses to not write letters. That is why I'm starting this challenge. I hope we can help encourage one another to take that small step towards cultivating our relationships with those we cherish who may be far away, or maybe people we don't even know who could use some encouragement. I mean, who ever couldn't use some encouragement?!

I now have a section on my site where I list links to people/websites that can help motivate you in your letter writing or give you ideas for who to write to. If you have any resources that are related to snail mail and writing letters that you think would be a good addition to that page please shoot them my way!! I love seeing what people are doing in the world to help cultivate this art.
